Our story

Life in India was a complete inspiration for Julia Moore.  She lived there with her husband for six years and then drove back to England through Iran and Turkey.  A love of traditional textiles and the decorative arts grew from these and other travel experiences.  Twelve years ago, with partner Ingrid Hunter, they set up Tiles by TexTiles to design ceramic tiles using their love of the traditions of the Middle East, the Indian Sub-Continent and other countries they had visited.  The result is a large collection of original wall and floor tiles using transfer techniques on handmade tiles.  A few years ago Ingrid left to develop her glass designing skills but she still produces the Kilim Rug floor tiles. 

Operating from a studio in Leicestershire, Julia is able to offer a bespoke service.  If clients want one of her designs in another colour, this is possible and they can also have their own designs printed onto tiles.  In addition Julia helps clients visualise tiles in situ by inserting images into the client's photograph of the area to be tiled.
